Art Docents
Parent Volunteers present interactive art lessons (approximately 4) in their child's classroom. Lesson plan is provided. Schedule to be determined with classroom teacher.
Assemblies
Parent volunteers help plan and execute student assemblies during the school year.
Art Appreciation Week
Parent volunteers plan and teach hands on art activities during lunch recess for 1st-6th grades each day for one week.
Campus Beautification
Parent volunteers assist in clean-up, weeding, and planting around the various gardens on campus. Schedule to be determined, usually 2-3 times a year.
Community Read-In
Parent volunteers help plan a day of celebrating reading (usually on the birthday of Dr. Seuss.) Members of the community come share their love of books with the students by reading to them.
Core Literature
Parent Volunteers coordinate with the teachers to compile a list of each year's Core Literature. They also work with local bookstores to have a percentage of any core book that is purchased donated back to the PTA.
Directory
Parent volunteers work to create a directory of all the families at LCE.
Disaster Preparedness/Supplies
Parent volunteers assist in the upkeep of the school's disaster storage bin, along with coordinating disaster drills scheduled during the school year.
Earth Week
Parent volunteers help organize a week of lunch recess activities celebrating our Earth and how to make it a better place.
First Grade Lunch Monitors
Parent volunteers coordinate and help incoming 1st Graders learn how to use the cafeteria with confidence during the first few weeks of school.
Founder's Day
Founders' Day honors parents, teachers, staff or a group that have gone above and beyond to make a difference at La Cañada Elementary.
Holiday Luncheon & Choral Concert
Parent volunteers help organize a lunch to celebrate the holidays. Our LCE Choir performs for the attendees.
Hospitality
Parent volunteers help coordinate food and beverages for various events throughout the year.
Kindergarten Welcome
Parent volunteers plan an event for incoming Kinder families to get to know our school and how Kindergarten works.
Legislation
Parent volunteer keeps up to date information on legislative issues involving our school and PTA.
Library Gifts and Volunteers
Parent volunteers help our librarian with book check in and out, shelving books, and sorting book donations for the classrooms and library.
Lion Times Newsletter
Parent volunteer edits and assembles an electronic newsletter with information on activities and events at LCE. This newsletter is emailed to the entire staff and all parents that sign up to receive it weekly.
Lost & Found
Parent volunteers find, organize and publicize lost student items in designated Lost and Found areas.
Marquee
A parent volunteer keeps our LCE marquee current with important LCE dates.
New Family Social and Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten Orientation
Volunteers assist with the Social and Orientation prior to the start of school.
Online Order Form
Parents help create our Back to School and Haunt order forms. These forms help the PTA with collecting donations for our biggest fundraiser, The Halloween Haunt, as well as our technology, and general funds. Parents can also purchase Haunt T-shirts, Yearbooks, school directories, and many more important items to help throughout the school year.
Outreach Committee
This committee meets monthly and supports our school's Korean families with translation assistance; and provides service to the school at Multi-Cultural Days, the Halloween Haunt Korean BBQ, and other events. Contact outreach@lcepta.org.
Red Ribbon Week
Parent volunteers assist in planning and staffing events during LCE’s annual drug awareness week.
Parent/Child Lunches/Spirit Days
On certain days, help show your school spirit by participating in our Spirit Rally or Parent/Child lunch. Parent volunteers help plan some of these events.
Picture Day
Parent volunteers help students get ready for their class photos, supervise group pictures and assist with the transition of each classroom group.
PTA Reflections Art Program
The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for that provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme. Parent volunteers help publicize the event, oversee LCE’s student entries and organize recognition party for all participants.
Recess Rocks Volunteers
Volunteers help supervise students at recess. The more supervision we have, the more peaceful our playground is! Roughly a 30 minute a week commitment.
Retirement & Farewells
Volunteers help us say “good bye” to any staff members that may be leaving our school through a small celebration.
Safety/Calico Car Line
Parent volunteers help our students safely reach school during drop off and pick up. Parents also help our school understand the safest way to maintain traffic flow around our school. Requires brief training session.
School Supplies
Volunteers help coordinate the purchase and distribution of pre-packaged supplies for each student at each grade level.
Spelling Bee
Parent volunteers coordinate a spelling bee at LCE and then help the winners enter at the District level.
Summer Reading
Volunteers help encourage students to keep reading over the summer break through a fun program. Students are presented with a small prize for completing a reading log.
Staff Appreciation
Each day for one week, volunteers show our teachers how much we appreciate all their hard work.
Staff Welcome Luncheon
Volunteers provide a luncheon for the LCE staff as they prepare to return for the school year.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheons
Parent volunteers help plan lunches for our teachers on student-free teacher work days (approximately 4 each year).
Teacher Working Dinners
Parents help provide and plan for two dinners for our teachers as they prepare for Back-to-School Night and Open House.
Volunteer Appreciation
Volunteers put together a small celebration near the end of the school year to thank anyone who has ever given their time to our school.
Website
A parent volunteer keeps our school website current with information and important dates at LCE.
Workroom Volunteers
Parent volunteers work in the school office to support teachers with many hands on tasks. This gives our teachers more time to teach.
World Fair
Parent volunteers help plan and coordinate a fun cultural event at LCE. Students take a "trip" around the world (in the LCE Cafeteria) to learn about different countries, their cultures, and even sample their foods.
Yearbook
Parent volunteers work to create a lasting memory for our students in a LCE Yearbook.
